Prashant Shukla

I am Prashant Shukla, a PhD Candidate in Business Administration at the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vancouver Canada. A Nepalese citizen and a US permanent resident, I lived in Kathmandu for the first 2 decades (almost) of my life before moving to the US for my education. I received my bachelors in economics from Sewanee and my masters in the same discipline from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.  Then on I worked for several years in the US and in India (Global Shares, Institute for Competitiveness) before coming back for a doctorate to Beedie School of Business.

My current research interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, economics of creative & cultural industries, and the theory of crowd capital. I am currently finishing my dissertation at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, where I am also a Fellow at the Creative Destruction Lab.

In my free time, I like to play squash, lift weights, watch TV and movies, and listen to music. I am big on classic rock and old Hindi and Nepali songs. I am also a lot into Pacino and De Niro movies. But after getting married, my affinity for chick flicks has increased exponentially. 🙂

  2. Dear Prashant,

I have found your website through gogle search while I have been searching strategic management Phd canada keywords. Actually, I plan to apply to phd programs in Canada in strategic management field and I would like to ask you a few questions about admissions through e-mail if it is ok for you too. My e-mail adress is aliarslan799@gmail.com

Actually my GMAT score is not that great and although I have another schedulde test in 2 days, I don’t feel very confident about the strength of my application pacakage overall. Would you be able to share some of your knowledge about the possibility of admission in business schools in Canada? Anyway, already too much details :).. I would be super glad if I can communicate with you through e-mail.
